At some point Bulova Accutron 214 movement got a Calibre Numbering System Change as follows Accutron 214 = 2140, Accutron 214H = 2141, Accutron 214HN = 2142 And a forth Calibre 2143 was added (although I've never seen a 2140 movement because the Swiss never made a 214 without a hack spring), More on that later...
Some people have claimed "Calibre Numbering System was Change to 2141, 2142, 2143 when they moved the production to Switzerland" and to that a say WHAT? That's easily debunked because there are tons of examples of USA made 214 movements with date codes all the way to 1977 when the Accutron 214 based watch was discontinued but what I haven't seen was ANY USA made movements with a Calibre number of 2140, 2141, 2142, 2143 of any date, Ever ! It seems the Calibre Numbering System Change was to the Swiss movements Only !
These USA made movements with date codes N1, N2, N3 and USA made movement were made all the way to the end of 1977 like this USA made 214H 1977 movement proves...
but no change the USA Calibre Numbering System was made by Bulova USA...
And while there is some truth to "According to Pieter Doenson’s book, from 1970 onwards, the 214 becomes as shown below.
Accutron 2140 = 214
Accutron 2141 = 214H
Accutron 2142 = 214HN
That change was only to the Swiss Made 214's, It should be noted that the Swiss only made A calibre 214H and 214HN movement up to the change date of around 1970...
These Swiss movements with the Calibre Numbering System change were used in a variety of Swiss made Accutron from this desktop clock...
To many of the large Swiss made "cushion case" type Spaceview watches post-1970 and up...
And including the Swiss "Hidden Spaceview" watches post-1970 and up...
And of course they were used in the Swiss made Astronauts Watches Calibre 2142...
Now more about the forth Calibre that was added,It should also be noted the there was an Accutron 2143 Calibre added which was used only in the Swiss Made Marine Chronometer (Mk11S) and it used three each !
